Here I am sitting in at work, bored out of my mind. Its a relaxing week at work, where after few days I start scratching my head and looking for ways to kill my time. Lately, I have re-ignited my passion for reading, so I decide to look for free e-books on line that I can read at work. After scrolling through few pages on e-library.net, I find a book that is considered a popular book. Ladies please hold your breath for the title, "The women men adore.. and never want to leave".
I re-read the title and couldn't help myself but question, why men are given so much importance in a relationship? Why and how come we started to think only a guy can leave a girl? And why we as women have to prove ourselves worthy of a man's love?
Having grown up in a male dominant society, I have seen it just way too many times. Men can cheat on their wives, abuse them (physically and sexually), dis-respect them, have multiple wife's and mistresses and still they are the one's leaving their wives or threatening to throw women out of their homes. If a women does either of these things, she is called names and dis-respected in a society. Why our social norms all favor men? Why is it so important that a women must maintain her virginity and its acceptable for men to have experience about sex? Why only a man can practice polygamy and still be socially acceptable but if women does the same its a blunder?
In the past, women were the home makers, relying on husbands source of income but today that is not the case and these norms still very much exist. Though our society is changing but we have a long way to go. Even if we are out in the corporate world working head to head to a man, at the end of the day we are still expected to go home and be a home maker. When would we learn that it is not my home or your home, it is our home, our life and no one is superior then the other. When would we learn that if a man can do something, so can the women. The distinction based on sex is not acceptable. When would we learn that because she is a girl, she doesn't have to die, because she is a girl she alone does not have to do household chores and because she is a women does not mean that she has to be suppressed.
I look forward to the day when I can come across a book titled "The men women adore and never want to leave".

This is my first feeble attempt at ever writing a blog. Main purpose of doing this is to write about my Europe trip. My very first trip to a different country all by myself. Few would say, what is the big deal you are not a kid and you live by yourself in USA, but I have to tell you this, I am an Indian and trust me not many Indian women pick up their bags, pack them and go explore a different country without a friend, boy friend, or significant other (but few of us do).
So, Yes it is a big deal and I can assure you this it doesn't end with this,
Its just a New Beginning, a New Chapter, a New Exploration and a brand New Adventure .... :)
